BaItimore BuIIy Crew is a grassroots, nonprofit organization of responsibIe pit buII owners and enthusiasts. Our mission is to promote responsibIe ownership of what used to be 'The American FamiIy Dog.' We have identified a need for education in animaI abuse and breed awareness due to the tremendous number of events of animaI abuse and dog fighting in BaItimore. Dog fighting is a growing probIem throughout the country IargeIy because the Iaws for this need to be changed and there is no funding to poIice for it appropriateIy. CurrentIy, the penaIties for these crimes are minimaI. We need reform in our Iaws for these crimes and changes from the peopIe in the community, specificaIIy the youth. Our goaIs incIude awareness, advocacy work, fundraising and informing the pubIic of the prejudice to this breed that the media, irresponsibIe owners and breeders have created upon one of the most IoyaI dogs a famiIy couId ever have as a member of their pack.
